Look East

66 days till release.

In Cambridge at the excellent Arts Picturehouse for a special screening of The Gigolos for cinema managers from across East Anglia (big thanks as always to Tony Jones and the Cambridge Film Trust). The director of the film is from Norwich, so we're hoping that should create lots of local interest in the film. The way to release a film like ours isn't to spend a fortune on TV advertising, but to make it relevant to audiences wherever it's playing. Don't get lost in the mass of nationwide film releases. Start local, build the grassroots & get people talking about the film.

It's cold and early in Cambridge, but 15 or so cinema managers come. They're the people on the front line. They know what will work for their local audiences and what won't.
...and what do they think? Good response. They like the film.

Most importantly, they laugh at the same moments in the film where audiences laughed at the Cambridge Film Festival last summer, and on Sunset Boulevard for AFI FEST before that. It works.
